University of Otago Doctoral Scholarships 2022/2023 is a fully funded PhD scholarship for international students. The university invite applications from international students who want to undertake PhD degree at University of Otago, New Zealand for academic year 2022/2023.

These scholarships are usually available only to students who wants to obtain their first doctoral qualification. Each applicant may receive one fully funded University of Otago doctoral scholarship only.

Worth of University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship for International Students

  • The University of Otago Doctoral Scholarships will provide NZ$ 27,000 stipend per annum and a domestic tuition fees waiver for 36 months which excludes student services fee and insurance.
  • The scholarship will also provide Professional Doctorates (DClinDent, DMA, DBA, EDd) – NZ$27,000 stipend per annum plus a tuition fee waiver for up to 36 months capped at the domestic rate which excludes student services fee and insurance.
  • The scholarship offers up to 200 annually.

University of Otago Doctoral Scholarships for International Students Eligibility

To qualify for University of Otago Doctoral Scholarships, each applicant must follow all of the following requirements below:

  • The required language eligible for the scholarship is English.
  • All world countries are eligible for these scholarship.
  • To be qualified for these scholarship, each applicant must have completed a Master’s degree by papers and thesis. However, the grades of all related advanced level papers which contributes towards the degree and the thesis are relevant.
  • However, candidates whose prior qualifications have been awarded by other universities, the University will calculate a GPA score using what it considers to be the most relevant papers and grades provided on the applicant’s academic transcripts.
  • Each applicant’s need potential for, or record of, research to be eligible for the scholarship.
  • To be eligible for these scholarship, you need the advice, recommendation and/or ranking of the relevant Head of Department.
  • Please also note that domestic as well as international applicants may apply for the Doctoral Scholarships at Otago University. But, international students will receive the scholarship at the domestic rate.

How to Apply for the University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship 2022-2023

Applications for doctoral scholarships are made online through the eVision portal and can be made at any time of the year. Once you have applied for admission to your programme you will receive an alert in your student portal inviting you to apply for a scholarship.

DClinDent applicants

Invitations to apply for the University of Otago Doctoral Scholarships will be sent out via eVision once admission to the DClinDent programme has been confirmed, usually in October of the year of application. A decision regarding the scholarship application will be made in late November or December in the same year.
